At a certain hour in the evening if you are walking west on Church Avenue, the setting sun will be right in your eyes and will make people walking east on Church Avenue appear as just legs. Just legs coming toward you, silhouetted by bright orange light. You might stop and gasp because you have never seen legs walking alone with nothing above the waist. You’ve seen mannequin legs modeling spandex pants on Flatbush, but not in motion. And then you might wonder if it’s still considered a waist if there’s nothing above. Then, just before your entire world unravels, the legs traveling east will be close enough and will sprout a torso and arms and lastly a head. They are nearly equal distances north and south of their equator. And all will be okay.
